Travel along one of Australia’s most spectacular coastal routes — the iconic Great Barrier Reef Drive. This breathtaking journey winds between rainforest-clad mountains and the sparkling Coral Sea, with unforgettable lookout points along the way. It’s here you’ll witness the rare and dramatic meeting place of the World’s Oldest Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, offering postcard-perfect photo opportunities.
Step aboard a renowned Daintree River wildlife cruise and glide quietly through this ancient waterway. This peaceful yet thrilling experience offers close-up encounters with the river’s diverse ecosystem, including estuarine crocodiles, vibrant birdlife, and dense mangrove forests. With a near-silent vessel, you’ll observe wildlife in its natural habitat while expert local guides share fascinating insights into crocodile behaviour, river ecology, and the surrounding rainforest environment.
Crossing the Daintree River by ferry is more than just a journey — it’s a passage into one of the oldest living ecosystems on Earth. As you leave the mainland behind, the landscape becomes noticeably wilder and more remote, setting the tone for an unforgettable rainforest adventure north of the river.
Take in breathtaking panoramic views from Alexandra Lookout, where the emerald canopy of the Daintree Rainforest stretches toward the winding Daintree River and the Coral Sea beyond. This iconic viewpoint showcases the rare convergence of two World Heritage – listed sites and is one of the most photographed locations in Far North Queensland.
Explore the heart of the ancient rainforest on the Marrdja Boardwalk, an easy walk through an extraordinary natural landscape. Here, you’ll encounter living examples of plant evolution spanning more than 350 million years. Led by our expert naturalist guide, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation of the rainforest’s ecology, cultural significance, and unique plant life. The boardwalk winds past towering fan palms, mangroves, and ancient species before reaching a viewing platform over Noah Creek, a known crocodile habitat.
A delightful stop awaits at the Daintree Ice Cream Company, set within a lush tropical orchard. Sample a selection of handcrafted ice creams made from exotic fruits grown onsite, then enjoy a leisurely self-guided walk through the orchard, showcasing rare and seasonal fruit trees native to Far North Queensland.
Discover the raw beauty of Cape Tribulation Beach, one of Australia’s most pristine and breathtaking coastal locations. Here, the rainforest spills directly onto the sand, creating a dramatic and unforgettable landscape. This remote, off-grid area is one of the few places in the world where rainforest survived the Ice Age untouched, resulting in exceptional biodiversity and natural beauty.
Your journey concludes with a scenic drive back along the coast to your chosen drop-off point in Port Douglas, the Northern Beaches, or Cairns. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way — sightings of the rare and elusive Southern Cassowary are not uncommon, providing a fitting finale to an extraordinary day of exploration.
